We all have seen a lighthouse. The beautiful tall structure surrounded by water on three sides jutting out into the ocean or large bay. It stands as a beacon calling out to ships to warn them of impending danger, perilous doom. The lighthouse just stands there. It shines its light out into the abyss. a call, a warning, an invitation to take notice. When a lighthouse is in its full glory, it is just a beacon of light. There is nothing flashy about a lighthouse. The ships see the light and act accordingly, grateful for its light, its grace and its guidance. We are light filled beings just like a lighthouse. We can serve as a beacon for others and serve as a warning of impending danger or peril. Just like a lighthouse, we need do nothing. We stand in the truth of who we are and maybe a ship will see our light and maybe not. The problem arises because we believe we need to do more.
There are three types of people out in the world. The ones that are unconscious. They will never see the ship, the land or your lighthouse and that’s ok. That is where they are. Another type of person is the one so invested in their drama that they see the land coming closer and closer and they can’t get away. They see your light but they chose to ignore it believing that what was coming is needed and warranted. They are busy wanting the drama of the impending doom, needing some tragedy to feed some kind of necessity. The third type of person really does want our help. They don’t want to be stuck out on the ship too fearful of the rocks to come any closer to shore. They are afraid until they see your beacon. How do you know which person is which? When you stand firm as a Lighthouse and hold your ground it will become very clear who is who. The person who can not see the lighthouse at all is not going to be able to heed any advice we offer. So we stand tall in our fullest expression of our light, the ones who are meant to see us will.
Being a Lighthouse means just that… being. There is no ‘doing’ a lighthouse. You stand and shine your light and you will be shown what to do. When you can listen for guidance and have the clarity to honor it, you are truly being a Light filled being. The problem arises when we want to continue helping when our services are no longer required. You are not being a lighthouse if you run after the people once they have safely made it to shore. You are not serving anyone by chasing after a ship that has seen your light and has moved safely away from shore. There is nothing enlightening about getting off your podium and running after a passing boat to flag it down and ask if it needs anymore help… ‘cause I’m always here!’
The gift is in the being. When we are able to just stand tall shining our light out, we are just being. If your angels or God want to use you as something more, it will become very obvious and you will feel moved in that direction. If you are moving from a need… YOUR need, not what is truly helpful, that will become obvious as well. Sometimes one of the hardest things to do…..is to do nothing. But if you listen to your inner knower, your inner guidance you will be shown what to do. And that is the greatest gift you can give yourself as well as someone else. The gift of being. The gift of being the LIGHTHOUSE.
